Lynn Lieberman

Harlem, NY

Favorite A&C Item:

Shizen rag watercolor paper

While I enjoy working in all mediums, my first love is watercolor. Many of my paintings are of the beautiful old townhouses gracing the streets of Harlem, where I live.  They aren't all perfect.  This is not a movie set and it is the beauty of their age, the many layers of paint, a sign of housing many lives, that I find appealing.

I am inspired by the history of my surroundings and I'm drawn to paint the very places that once  were home to the masters of the Jazz age,  Minton's - the Lenox Lounge - St. Nick's Pub - The Apollo Theatre, as well as the wonderful shops and restaurants that are so popular today.
