Conte crayons are drawing sticks synonymous with the colors of clay (the first sticks used clay and graphite for color). Now, natural pigments are used in the common colors of white, black, grey, sanguine (terra cotta), and bistre (brown). The performance is similar to a hard pastel, and a range of other colors are also available in sets.
