Fabric Dying Activators, Agents & Accessories

 

Throwing a can of pop on a campfire won't give you soda ash, but you will need a pouch of soda ash (also known as sodium carbonate) to fix your Procion cold water dyes into fabric.

 

There are many ways to dye fabric, each demanding a unique activator or agent for the best results and permanence. Synthapol will help you remove sizing and grease from a fabric before you dye it. Sodium alginate (the sodium salt of alginic acid) makes a dye mix thicker. It is also used as a thickener in baker's jams.

 

These are a few of the modifiers we offer, mostly from the dye experts at Jacquard.  We also carry bottles to help you squirt your concoctions - or fill your jelly donuts with thickened jams.
