Etching inks have a particular stiffness and viscosity that suit them to printing in the intaglio process. An etching ink must impregnate the etched incisions on a copper or zinc plate and then hold tight while the surface ink is wiped away. Too stiff and tacky, and the ink cannot be wiped clean. Too loose, and the ink cannot hold detailed marks in the wiping process.
Whether you pick Gamblin Etching Inks or Charbonnel Etching Inks you will find a highly pigmented and professional grade etching ink. Gamblin offers one pound cans, the kind you would see lined up on a printshop shelf. We carry Charbonnel in a smaller 60ml tube.
