Moldmaking Materials
Molds are the negative.
A sculptor applies rubber, alginate, or molding putty onto an object to capture its relief - as a negative. If the mold is delicate, such as rubber latex, a mother mold of plaster or some hard material must cradle it.
He then pours or pushes into the mold a liquid resin, plaster, etc. which catalyzes or hardens into a replica of the object.
We offer materials to make many types of molds, whether you are looking for good detail or some durability for multiple castings. We also offer alginate, which can safely contact the skin, and is therefore good for life casting.
